\n Prince prussien, il est un proche cousin du roi\u00a0Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric-Guillaume III de Prusse sous le r\u00e8gne duquel il combattit la France et mourut le 10 octobre 1806 \u00e0 la bataille de Saalfeld, o\u00f9 il \u00e9tait oppos\u00e9 au 5e corps de Lannes. Son nom est rest\u00e9 c\u00e9l\u00e8bre gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 Beethoven. M\u00e9c\u00e8ne du compositeur, il commande, en 1806, trois quatuors \u00e0 cordes opus 59 qui portent son nom, et pour deux d\u2019entre eux, Beethoven y introduit des th\u00e8mes russes en son hommage.
